Sheshri Craftsmanship

The Artistry Within

The Hands Behind Every Stitch

Our Craft

Centuries of Technique, Devoted to a Single Garment

At the heart of Sheshri lies a profound reverence for the artisanal traditions of India. Our ateliers are home to over 200 master craftspeople — many from families who have practiced their art for generations. Here, we celebrate the four embroidery techniques that define our creations.

Zardozi embroidery

Technique 01

Zardozi

Persian origin, flourished in Mughal India

The majestic art of metallic embroidery, where gold and silver wires are coiled, flattened, and stitched into opulent three-dimensional motifs. Once reserved for the robes of emperors, zardozi remains the pinnacle of Indian couture embellishment.

Chikankari embroidery

Technique 02

Chikankari

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh

A whisper-soft embroidery tradition from Lucknow, where fine white threads create shadow-work florals on gossamer muslin and georgette. Each piece is a meditation in patience — a single saree can take months to complete.

Aari embroidery

Technique 03

Aari

Kashmir Valley

An ancient hook-and-chain technique that allows artisans to create flowing, continuous lines of beadwork and sequin embroidery. Aari work is prized for its fluidity and the way it catches light along curved, cascading motifs.

Resham embroidery

Technique 04

Resham

Pan-Indian tradition

The art of pure silk thread embroidery, where lustrous resham threads are woven into intricate pictorial scenes and floral jaals. Tonal resham work creates subtle, sophisticated textures that shift beautifully with the light.

Artisan Spotlight

“My grandfather taught me to hold the needle like a brush — not with force, but with intention. Every stitch is a prayer, every motif a story. When I embroider, I am never alone.”

Mohammed Yusuf
